World famous cats guide - Sphynx cat

2021-05-13

The Sphynx cat is a breed of cat known for its lack of coat (fur). The skin has the texture of chamois leather, it has fine hairs or may be completely hairless. Whiskers may be present, either whole or broken, or maybe totally absent. The cat has a narrow, long head and webbed feet. Their skin is the color that their fur would be, and all the usual cat markings (solid, point, van, tabby, tortie, etc.) may be found on the Sphynx cat's skin.

In 1966, a Sphinx cat was bred from a litter of almost hairless kittens by inbreeding. It is cultivated by cat lovers who are allergic to cat hair. This cat is a pet cat produced by a natural genetic mutation. Except for some thin and soft lanugo hairs in the ears, mouth, nose, front part of the tail, feet and other parts, the other parts of the body are hairless, and the skin is wrinkled and elastic.

Sphinx cats are docile, independent, non-aggressive, and can get along with other cats and dogs. They display a high level of energy, intelligence, curiosity, and affection for their owners. They are one of the more dog-like breeds of cats, frequently greeting their owners at the door and friendly when meeting strangers.

But for this kind of cat with too individual appearance, people's views are often diametrically opposed. Hairless cat lovers think it is the rarest cat species, a rare treasure, and others cannot accept its peculiarities, even directly call it a "monster".
